HIT!

Monday 21st December

My CNS seems permanently fried at the moment. Hopefully the break over xmas will allow me to recharge fully.

Starting Over

Saturday 19th December

I was up at 6am with Luke today and had to drive him back to London before the workout. It ended up being a typical Saturday morning workout - ropey!!

Snatch
20x5 (5)
60x2 (4)
80x2 (3)
100 (2)
115 (2)
125 - 2 Fails

Still not keeping the bar close on these top lifts. Also not feeling especially explosive.

Fr Squat

110x5
135x4.5 - just can't seem to get this!

It's been a while since I've snatched over 122 so I'm going to stop making the big jumps at my top weights and try to get consistency around the 95% level...

The Callous

Wednesday 16th December

Got a nasty callous at the bottom of my thumb that made snatching difficult today:

Snatch
50x5 (5)
60x2 (3)
80x2 (2)
100x2 (2)
110 - Left it there as was very uncomfortable

Clean

146 - this is the heaviest clean I've done since February 07!
150F - racked in nicely but too heavy to recover

Front Squat

110x3
130x3
140x3
130x3

Not been sleeping too well over the last few days so glad I have a couple of days off now to recuperate. Will look to do both lifts every work out from now on. Heavy Monday and Thursday and light on a Saturday.

The Wager

Monday 14th December

Today I woke up feeling pretty rough but I knew there was money on the line so took an extra Anadin and gave it my best:

Snatch
20x5 (4)
60x2 (3)
80x2 (2)
100x2
112 - good power snatch
122
132F
132F

These snatches felt heavy off the floor and I wasn't really committing to the 132s. maybe I need to make smaller jumps at the top end? Will probably do 115, 125, 132 on Wednesday...

Fr Sq
60x2
100x2
120x2

MP

My target is to improve 1kg for every calendar month so I now only have 6 sessions remaining to hit that 132 in December.

Saturday Morning Hangover

Saurday 12th December

Today was my dad's 60th birthday. Happy birthday old fella!

I don't drink but was out late last night and felt like I had a hangover. I knew it was gonna be a ropey session before I even got to the gym:

Back in Woking

After a 5 year absence today was my first proper session back in Woking. It was great to see some of the old guys, and Hamill gave me a warm welcome.

A fairly decent session. I chose a non Eleiko bar which didn't seem very stable overhead (rotated too freely).

The Bomber

December 5th 2009 - London & SE Open

There were 16 lifters in the 94kg catagory and they decided to run the competition on 2 platforms. Suffice it top say this didn't work too well. My normal competition coach had 3 other lifters to take care of so my warm up was screwed:

Snatch

130 - Ditto
130 - Pull was good but swung slightly and rotated behind
